Wanda Myers Butler, age 79, of Austin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2005, at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on September 6, 1925, to Ralph and Ethel Myers in Cambellsburg, Indiana. She graduated from Indiana School for the Deaf. She married Gwendel D. Butler on June 12, 1949. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Gwendel D. Butler, her parents, three sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Donna J. Alexander; son, Dennis Butler and wife Cheryl; grandchildren, Britani Alexander Currey and husband Scott, Robin Alexander Thompson and husband Chad, Gwendelyn and Owen Butler; two great-grandsons, Jacob Clements and Alexander Thompson; three sisters, Pauline Goen, Lois Patton, and Mary Bridgewater and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Possessing boundless energy and unyielding devotion to her husband, children and grandchildren, she found the children and great grandchildren to be the joy of her later life. Proverbs 33:25 Strength and honour are her clothing, and she shall rejoice in time to come. No matter how cloudy her days were she always radiated a sunshine smile for others. This exemplified the encouragement and support for those she loved. She was an inspiration to both her deaf and hearing friends. She was loved and admired by all. Overcoming all her own personal difficulties, she constantly demonstrated a servants heart. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Marks Episcopal Church or the Gwendel D. Butler Scholarship Fund at Texas School for the Deaf. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 7, 2005, at St. Marks Episcopal Church with Reverend William Bennett officiating. Memorials and guestbook online at wcfish.com
