

Wesley Leonard Helgren, Jr. passed away on the 31st day of January 2012. He was born to Wesley Leonard Helgren, Sr. and Ethel Eudora Cook Helgren in Manor, Texas on the 27th of August 1918. He was one of six children. Growing up, Wesley was raised and helped tend to the family farm. He graduated from Manor High School. He was drafted into the Army Air Force during World War II and served in the China-Burma-India Theatre.
Wesley worked at City of Austin in the water department, and retired after 35 years as the Water Utility Pipeline Supervisor. During his life, Wesley enjoyed fishing, hunting, and carpentry.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Loice Marie Morris Helgren; children, Janette Gail Preusse and her husband, Curtis and James Wesley Helgren and his wife, Brenda; granddaughter, Anne Marie Helgren; brother and sister, John and Dora Nell Helgren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Richard Irving Helgren, Emily Helgren Case, and Henry Bell Helgren.
A visitation will be held with the family from six o’clock in the evening until eight o’clock, on Friday the 3rd of February 2012 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at one o’clock in the afternoon, on Saturday the 4th of February 2012 at Cook-Walden. Interment to follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks.
