William Frederick "Bill" Aldridge, 72, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2008. Bill was born July 20, 1935 to H.C. and Martha Alice Aldridge in San Benito, Texas. He was a graduate of San Benito High School and Texas A&I University. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Bill served the Texas State Banking Department for 26 years. Bill married the love of his life, Rosella Bowles on August 1, 1964. During their 44 years of marriage, Bill and Rosella had one daughter, Karen. Bill cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed travelling, but mostly when it was to visit Karen, Richard and the grandkids. He was a soft spoken, caring man, always willing to help family and friends whenever he could, and he was a friend to many charities. He could always be relied on for his wisdom and studied advice, and also for his dry wit. Bill enjoyed nature and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved being out on the land among the wildlife and hunted and fished when he could. He and Rosella were members of the Westlake Bible Church. Above all, Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend and he will be dearly missed. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; by his brother, H.C. Aldridge, Jr.; and his sister, Martha Alice "Cookie" Whitley. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rosella (Bowles) Aldridge; his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Richard Ward and their children, Alice, Robert, Virginia, Anna and Caroline, all of Williamsburg, Virginia; and countless relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 18th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Westlake Bible Church with The Reverend Brad Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
