William Claiborne Dugas, born in Waco, Texas on July 6,1980, passed peacefully at his home in Austin on January 18, 2018. Will bravely battled brain cancer and defied expectations, rules, and limitations throughout his journey. He was an exemplary son, a caring brother, and a fiercely loyal friend who had a zest for life and a wry wit that kept everyone around him smiling. Will was a creative thinker who loved the arts, music, travel, and philosophical pursuits. He was a talented writer of short stories and poetry. Will was a magnificent and unique human being. Will's absence will be felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. He is survived by his mother, Nina Newkirk (& husband Joe; step sisters, Laura and Heather), his father, Clay Dugas (& stepmother, Shannon), his sister, Frances Long (& husband, Matt), his brothers, Alex and Logan, and his girlfriend, Ilonka Soto.
