

Zack attended McAllen High School in McAllen, TX and went on to obtain a degree in Psychology. As a young man he entered the Marine Corps and was selected for Embassy Duty in El Salvador where he guarded President Kennedy when he toured South America. Zack served two tours in Vietnam and retired from the Marine Corps as a Chief Warrant Officer with multiple accommodations including a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
An incredible husband, father, grandfather and friend, Zack was known for his quick wit, good humor, and great conversations.
Zack is preceded in death by his parents Escolastico "Nick" Fuentes and Guadalupe Villanueva Fuentes. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maureen Pelletier Fuentes; four children and eight grandchildren: Zack Fuentes; Sean Fuentes, wife Lacey, and daughter Camille; Shannon Swank, husband Darby, and children Hannah, Lilly and Ava Maureen; Danielle Garcia, husband Erik and children Raven, Victoria, Isabella, and Nicholas. Zack is also survived by three brothers, Ramon, Robert, and Ricardo, and six sisters Esther Cordova, Estela Macias, Yolanda Narron, Rosa Covarrubias, Martha Villarreal, and Veronica Flores.
Visitation will be held at 5:30 p.m. and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin, TX. Funeral Mass will be at St. Raphael's Church in El Paso, TX on Monday, January 28th at 9:15 a.m. with burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, El Paso.
