

Zack Cody Shropshire died peacefully at his home in Austin on May 5, 2017, following a lengthy illness. He was born August 26, l969 in Austin to Zack R. Shropshire and Rebecca Ragland Shropshire. In 1996, he married Jennifer Ellwanger at Hope Lutheran Church in Austin. They were married by Jennifer’s father Pastor John Ellwanger. Cody and Jennifer were blessed with 21 years of marriage and three children, Rebecca Jane, Nicholas Slade and Preston James.
Cody graduated from the University of Texas in 1993 with a B.A. in Business and remained a loyal Longhorn fan for the rest of his life. He loved watching Longhorn sports. Another love of his life was fishing and being on or near the water. He was happiest at the family lake house on Lake Travis or out in the boat deep sea fishing.
After graduation from The University, Cody worked his entire career at Shropshire Construction, the family business, along with his Dad. He always got a twinkle in his eye when he balanced the books to the very penny. He served many roles in the company and most recently as Vice-President.
Cody is preceded in death by his mother, Becky Ragland Shropshire, and his grandparents. His death is mourned by his wife, Jennifer and their daughter Becca, sons Nick and Preston, his father Zack R. Shropshire, his sister Casey Friesenhahn and husband Eric and their children Seth, Avery, Cash, and Jack. Cody also leaves behind his brother-in-law Jeremy Ellwanger and wife Lisa and their sons Judd and Jake, aunts and uncles, cousins, many friends and extended family.
The memorial service for Cody Shropshire will be held at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, Texas on Friday, May 12 at 1:00 p.m. Presiding at the service will be Pastor David Hintze of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lago Vista who was his faithful pastor and friend to the very end.
