Doris (Pilgrim) Marchand

Doris passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 08, 2018 at City View Retirement Living in her 88th year. Doris has finally joined her loving husband François, who left us in 2001. Doris will be sadly missed by her children: Paul (Jill), Denyse, Suzanne, Christine (Iat Chio) and Lloyd (Michael); her grandchildren: Charles (Pixie), Simon (Nikki), Wy Joung, Martin; step-grandchildren Laird (Sari), JoAnne (Kelly); her step great-grandchildren: Kaimen, Kalie, Bonnie and Paisley. Dear sister of the late Ruth (Jim), late Phyllis (Roger) and Bob Pilgrim.

As a young girl, Doris’ warm smile was referred to by the late Father Limoges as " the smile of an angel ", That smile has warmed the hearts of friends and strangers alike throughout the years. Doris was very spontaneous and liked to have fun. She could dress up for a visit to the neighbours or with her children to visit her sister on Halloween. Doris could break out in a jig as easily as she could break out in one of her many favourite tunes. Her rendition of “I got a lovely bunch of coconuts” will never be forgotten!

Doris’ great cooking and hostessing were enjoyed by many. She was always up for a game of Rummoli, Bridge, Monopoly...the list goes on.

We will dearly miss Mom for many reasons, amongst those, her welcoming manner. You could show up at the front door any time of day and both Mom and Dad would invite you into their home, ask you to sit down and offer you something to drink, be it coffee, tea or other libation.

Mom was very accepting of her family and loved everybody equally. She was our mother, but also a best friend to us. We could share our thoughts and unique humour with her at any time.

The family would like to thank City View Retirement Living and the Champlain LHIN for the very good care they provided. For those who wish, a donation may be made to the Queensway Carleton Geriatric Day Hospital in lieu of flowers. Doris always loved a party, so a reception for friends and family to celebrate her life will be held at Racine, Robert & Gauthier Beauchamp Funeral Home, 47 Denise-Friend, Aylmer, Québec on Monday, February 19, 2018 from 1 to 3 pm.
