Hanane was the beloved daughter of Hind Salloum and the late Loutfi Hajjar; cherished wife of John Bergen; loving mother of Emily (Pat), Michael (Jie Zhen) and Cassandra (Alexandre); much loved sister of Sanaa (Nazih), Nawal (Jean), Bahia (Issam), Jean (Amal), Zahia, and Amal (Ayoub).
Hanane was born in Machghara, Lebanon, where she spent a wonderful childhood with her 5 sisters, 1 brother and loving parents. She created beautiful memories growing up in a small village on a fruit orchard, with the treat of watching movies at her father’s cinema.
As a young adult, Hanane immigrated to Canada where she would go on to meet her dear husband, John. Together, they would spend 37 years building a beautiful life filled with many laughs and endless love.
Deciding to change careers at the age of 40, it was only natural for Hanane to become a Social Worker by profession. It was in her nature to help others and she contributed in so many ways to her community. Her determination and strength of character has been a true inspiration to all.
Hanane was a devoted wife, mother, grand-mother, daughter, sister and friend to many. Her kind and generous nature touched all around her. She was a special woman whose positive impact on this world will continue to be felt for years to come.
A memorial in her loving memory will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021. People are invited to arrive between 1:00 and 4:00 pm at the Cabane en Bois Rond, located at 331 boulevard Cité-des-Jeunes in Gatineau, QC.
