A woman of remarkable character and dedication, Hélène (mom, Granny Len) committed her life to the service of others. Her professional journey began at the young age of 16 when she joined the RCMP, embarking on a career defined by integrity and purpose. In 1984, she transitioned to the newly formed Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) at its inception. She spent a part of her career with the agency and retiring after of significant contribution to her country.
Beyond her professional duties Hélène possessed a deep well of compassion for those in need. She spent many years volunteering at a shelter for battered women, providing a steady hand and a kind heart to women seeking safety and a fresh start. Her commitment to protecting others extended far beyond her career, touching the lives of many in her community.
While her life was defined by service, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, a no-nonsense spirit and the profound impact she had on those around her. Family and friends will fondly remember that whenever she reached her limit or got a little "mad," she had a signature way of ending the argument: with a classic "va faire ton pipi," she would send you on your way, leaving everyone with a smile.
She is survived by her loving daughter Michele Janveau (Rick), her son Marc Janveau (Beth), her cherished 4 grandchildren Karah (Maxime), Anna (Curtis), Seth, Reese, 6 great-grandchildren, Owen, Jacob, Xavier, Alex, Ila and Beau as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
While her career was defined by integrity and service to her country, her heart belonged to her family and their shared traditions. She was the family’s unofficial super model always ready to pose for a picture to capture a moment. She took great joy in chronicling the adventures of her father, brothers, and friends, meticulously writing their hunting stories whenever they returned from the bush. Her ability to turn their time in the wild into lasting memories is a gift her family will always treasure.
The family would like to thank her dedicated and thoughtful caregivers from the CHSLD for the wonderful care they provided and who made it possible for the family to be by her side during the final moments.
Your life was a blessing and your memory a treasure. We carry your love and your stories with us every day, and you will remain in our hearts forever. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. You are loved beyond words.
In accordance with Moms wishes, her remains will be cremated followed by a private family interment at Notre-Dame Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in her memory.
