He is survived by his children, Tracy-Lee, Amanda (Jason), Jeffrey (Jess), and Samantha. His best friend, Darlene (Mclean) And leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Madison, Ryan, Haleigh, Scarlett, Avery, Owen, Maya and Josh; He loved them more than they will ever know.
He leaves behind his loyal fur-babies, Willow and Minmin, who brought him so much happiness.
Peter was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Lois Ferrier.
As we navigate the loss of our dad, we also find ourselves navigating our memories—both of which bring sadness and laughter. Our dad was convoluted and complicated, full of contradictions that somehow fit together and made him uniquely himself.
His many false starts in hockey, football, and the military eventually led him to a life on the road as a long-haul truck driver. He loved being behind the wheel, logging countless miles and collecting stories along the way.
We will remember him for his complexity, his inappropriate humour and his love of singing.
Rest easy dad, we imagine you are back on the road. Maybe heading North to Alaska. Until we see you again, we'll keep lookin' out the backdoor.
A prayer close to Peter’s heart reads:
"Grant me, O Lord, a steady hand and watchful eye, that no one shall be hurt as I pass by.
You gave life; I pray no act of mine may take away or mar that gift of thine.
Shelter those, dear Lord, who bear my company from the evils of fire and all calamity.
Teach me to use my car for others' need; nor miss through love of undue speed
The beauty of the world; that thus I may with joy and courtesy go on my way.
St. Christopher, holy patron of travelers, protect me and lead me safely to my destiny. Amen."
