Dear Family,
It saddens me greatly to have learned of, and not have been informed of Carmen’s passing until  a week after her funeral. For my and Rey Salcedo’s daughter, Veronica, Carmen was the Nana of her life, and for me Carmen remained family. Over the years, even though we hadn’t  crossed paths since Tesah’s wedding and Bob’s (Veronica’s Papa’s ) Funeral, the entire family has shown up in my dreams at times, always a sweet memory of all the good times we all had together from Holiday Traditions (loved the Puerto Rican, Italian and American holiday feasts), the fun outdoor pool bbq’s and all the parties! From the 1970’s and on through the early 2000’s. Both Carmen and Bob were such a steady example in my  and my daughter’s lives, of what families should be, and for that I have so much love, respect  and appreciation,  most especially for Carmen. Yes, life does happen, and things may change… sometimes drastically, but love and family, however we wish to define it, remains alive in our hearts forever. So even though we weren’t able to be there in person to mourn and celebrate Carmen’s life with the family last week, I want to thank whoever decided to stream the funeral. I was able to watch it and felt as though we were all together once again. (What happened to the mike during the sharing)? I send my love, together with a warm hug to each and every one of you, that you may be comforted in your great grief and loss. As for Carmen… thank you Carmen for being in so much of my life from young adulthood, through on to middle age. May your kind and giving spirit soar in the vast spaces of the sweet forever. With all my love, gratitude and respect, I say to you in the great Hawaiian tradition… Carmen… Ho’ oponopono which translates as

~Please forgive me
~I love you
~Thank you

Our deepest sympathies to all. I remember your Mom, Aunt Carmen,  as beautiful and kind.  I recall years ago when our family came to New York for a visit.  Aunt Carmen cheerfully and lovingly welcomed us and  made room for us all to sleep and stay at your house. She has a special place in our hearts. 
Moms are special, and their loss is hard.

Our sincerest condolences on the passing of our beloved co worker, Carmen.  When I transferred into the Purchasing Department at Con Edison, Carmen was always ready to give support, share her experience and mentor me. On a  more personal note Carmen came to the rescue the day before my wedding when she took time during her lunch break to pick up contact lenses for me when mine got damaged. She always was there to lend a helping hand. When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. May she rest in peace. Karen and Dan Breen
