Beloved wife of the late Philip. Loving mother of Steven (Lucille), Susan Cruz (Jose), Robert (Mary), Thomas (Carolyn), Edward (Denise), James (Jacqueline), and Gary. Dear sister of Eleanor Desmond and Virginia Mayleas. Devoted sister-in-law to Anne Ciccolella.
Cherished grandmother of Vincent, Jennifer, Brian, Robert Jr, Joseph, Michelle, Stephanie, Michael, Elizabeth, Nicole, Amy, Jaime, Monica, Noelle, Katie, and Anthony.
Great Grandmother to Michael, Zachary, Christopher, Kaylee, Lincoln, Livianna, Isaac, Lydia, Jonathan, Ethan, Arianna, and Avery.
Evelyn enjoyed bowling and floral arranging, as well as needlepoint, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, and crafting. She was an avid crossword-puzzler, and like to be challenged by word puzzles. She loved to shop, and she loved doing her nails. When macular degeneration prevented her from doing her nails herself, she would get them done at the nail salon, generally followed by a lunch date.
Evelyn also enjoyed taking pictures of her visits to Hecksher Park, at family picnics, or just because.
After her beloved Philip passed away, Evelyn moved back to New York and was reunited with her sister in law Anne. The two lived in a community in Port Jeff Station and had many bus adventures and "wild times".
In her later years, Evelyn lived at different assisted living communities. At the Arbors, she enjoyed the company of her tablemates. They would spend hours after dinner just sitting in the cafe and commenting on the state of the world.
Evelyn moved to Sunrise Assisted living, where she was able to enjoy activities either by participating, or as a spectator. She was great at trivia and loved the singalongs. She enjoyed hearing the music she and Phil listened to together. Stevie Wonder, Kenny Rogers, and Rod Stewart were among their faves, but she could belt out a Beatles or Cher song if you asked.
Due to COVID, visitation was not generally announced, but Evelyn's children and grandchildren truly appreciate the outpouring of love and condolences.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Boyd-Spencer.com for the Lanzarone family.
