Francesco Leto, 83, of West Babylon, entered into Eternal Life in the early hours of Sunday, February 22, 2026, surrounded at home by his loving family. Born on February 11, 1943, in Ciminna, Sicily, to the late Filippo Leto and Vita Faraci Leto, Francesco left his hometown with his brother, Antonio, at the age of eighteen. The brothers went to England, where Francesco worked as a cook at Cambridge University, where he began to learn the English language and how to ride a bike. He then returned to his native Sicily, where he married Roseanna Graziano, in 1965. A year later, Francesco and RoseAnne, as she is known, left Sicily to emigrate to the United States, where they first settled in Queens Village, and became United States Citizens in 1967. A year later, Francesco and RoseAnne welcomed the birth of their first child, Vitamarie. The Leto family then moved from Queens to West Babylon, where they welcomed their second child, Philip, in 1975. Francesco was a Eucharistic Minister and faithful parishioner at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in West Babylon. He worked for a construction company at the beginning of his career, and later on he created plastic slipcovers in the upholstery field. Francesco was passionate about cooking, tending to his flowers and vegetable garden, and loved spending time at the beach, especially Cedar Beach in the Town of Babylon.
Francesco is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, RoseAnne (Graziano) Leto. Devoted father of Vitamarie (Leto) DiPaola and Philip P. Leto. Loving father-in-law of Joseph DiPaola and Antonella Leto. Adored Poppy of Amanda Alessi, Daniella Scotti and her husband, Michael, Cristine Leto, and Frank Leto. Dear great-grandfather of Sofia Rose Alessi and Mia Vita Scotti. Cherished brother of Antonio, Carmela, Rosaria, Marianna, and the late Rosa and Giovanni. A man who was truly devoted to and adored his family, Francesco's love reached the members of the community West Babylon and the parish of Our Lady of Grace. Jokingly called, "the town mayor," Francesco will be forever loved and deeply missed by each life that he touched.
Family will receive friends at Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home, 448 W. Main Street, Babylon, Thursday, February 26, 2026, 2:30 PM-4:30 PM & 7:00 PM-9:30 PM.
