

George, Scofield Pack, 89, a longtime resident of Babylon Village, Long Island, New York, on Monday, October 29, 2012. Mr. Pack was a retired engineer with the Long Island Railroad as well as a former Vice Chairman of The Brotherhood of Railroad Engineers Local 269. Additionally, he was a member of the V.F.W., a member of the American Legion and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Pack was a proud United States Navy WWII Veteran and was the United States Navy Pacific Fleet Boxing Champion who was matched against the then current World Boxing Champion in a match which took place on an aircraft carrier during WWII to help boost the morale of his fellow troops.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lydia, his children, Lydia (Carl), George, Thomas (Geri), Patricia and Barbara (Joel), his ten grandchildren, his three great-grandchildren and his sisters Lillian and Mildred. Mr. Pack was also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. Family and friends may visit Saturday, November 3, 2012, 10:00-11:30 AM, at Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Homes, 448 West Main Street, Babylon Village, NY 11702. His Funeral Service will take place, at the funeral home, 11:30 AM, Saturday following his visitation.
Mr. Pack's Committal Service will take place, 11:00 AM, Monday, November 5, 2012 at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, New York with Naval Honors.
