To the Bresnahan family, my deepest condolences on the loss of your Dad and husband.  Although I did not know him personally, I know how proud you are of his life, contributions and service.    Michael, you were very blessed to have such an incredible role model and I know your Dad was and always will be proud of you.

Grandpa Jim truly always had such a sweet soul and the kind of smile that would brighten anyone. It’s so hard to let someone go that you thought would always be here. Im homesick for a person, I’ll never see again in this lifetime. I’m gonna miss him calling me ria and his world healing hugs.I will always cherish the special bond we had for lacrosse and would do anything to have one more catch with him. I wouldn’t want anyone else to have taught me how to play lacrosse. A memory grandpa would always remind me about is when I was younger, I would be crawling around in the kitchen, about to fall off the step, and he would be making breakfast so he spun the peanut butter cap, to get my attention.He always made me feel so loved and constantly reminded me how proud he was. One bible verse that I think is very important to keep close with us during this saddening time is palms 34:18 NIV the lord is close to the heartbroken and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Grandpa would want us to keep staying strong each day. God is with us everyday and will lead us to healing with this tragedy. This bible verse assures us for gods compassion for the suffering and he hears the cries.

Grief is the price that you pay for love and although we’re grieving through this tough time, I will always cherish the time I had with Grandpa Jim and remember his smile and all of the jokes he would tell, unfortunately he won’t be there for my graduation this year to tell me how proud he is or any other big accomplishments but grandpa Jim was always cheering everyone on especially his grandkids telling us how proud he was of us. I know he will be with me in spirit always. No amount of time with someone you love is ever enough, but I’m glad I got to have the moments with grandpa Jim that I did and I will forever cherish them.

A heartfelt condolence to the entire Bresnahan clan. I had the honor of talking with Jimmy over the years, and it was always a pleasure.  I will never forget the great time I had attending an All-Star game with Jimmy at Yankee Stadium.  A true gentleman. He will be missed!

My Father Jim Bresnahan, my Brother Dennis and I. We loved him so much, that we emulated him. and it also became our calling to serve as U.S. Marines and Police officers.

I've known Jim since 1972 when I the NCPD and was assigned to the first Precinct.   I was a police medic on 2461 and backed up Jim and his partner quite often with my ambulance.  In the Army National Guard, I had the pleasure and privilege of having Jim's cousin, Michael assigned to my company.  When Michael got married, he asked me to be his best man.  Micheal actually then beat me to the rank of Colonel.  But I caught up with him.  Once the WTC was attacked Jim was assigned to NYPD 1PP Emergency Operations Center as liaison from NCPD.  I was  assigned the military liaison officer there as well.  Jim's son came up to meet him there and I took thier picture.  Jim and played golf and went fishing in our retirement together.  I I was able to validate Jim's participation at Ground Zero for Jim, with my photo and written documentation as well. I am shocked and surprised at his passing and will miss him deeply.

I knew Jim  my entire life, and I never knew such a kind, generous, loving man. His Family grew up on my block ( on Tardy Lane) and we were neighbors and friends. Jim was the oldest of 8 children, and he always took care of everyone!  Jim always lived a life of service. First, when he served his country proudly in the Marine Corps, and then when he served  and protected the citizens of Nassau County, spending his entire career in the Nassau County Police Department. He was a devoted son to his parents Eugenia and Bernard, and caring and loving brother to all his 7 siblings, a devoted husband to Pat, and loving father to his  3 beautiful children Michael, Dennis, and Lauren, and was an adored by all his grandchildren. Heaven has gained another Angel.. Rest easy Jim, in the  “Arms of Jesus”  Our deepest  sympathy goes to his entire family…Meg Mathews and Family.
