

Janice was born February 24, 1957 to the late Dolores and Vincent "Jimmy” Sottile. She is predeceased by her older sister Carol Gilroy who passed away in 2016. Janice was raised in Lindenhurst New York and attended Lindenhurst high school. She graduated in 1978 from Orange County community college with an A. S. Degree. She became a registered nurse in October 1978 and later earned her BSN from Molloy college. Her nursing career started at Lydia Hall hospital in Freeport New York. She then moved on to Southside Hospital and then to Brentwood family health center. She was currently a Director of nursing at Sunriver Health formally known as Hudson River Health Care.
Janice was an exemplary RN and employee and received many accolades throughout her career.
Her clinical and managerial skills were stellar and she was always kind and loving to her patients, always having compassion and empathy.
Family was most important to Janice. She loved family gatherings and cherished every moment with them, especially during their trips to Orange Lake and their Christmas holiday gatherings. She would reminisce throughout the year until the next Christmas event occurred. Janice had a love of music, always singing while snapping her fingers to the beat. She was often asked to perform her rendition of Janis Joplin's "piece of my heart".
She was also fond of crimes stories and movies. She was a fierce competitor in movie trivia. Janice appreciated humor and loved to laugh. She was often surrounded by those who strived to be funny just to see her bright smile and hear her infectious laugh. She enjoyed good food, good wine and a well-made espresso martini.
Janice was a loving mother to two children Jesse Castaldy (Sarah-fiancée) and Alison Castaldy (Michael-partner) She was a grandmother to her beautiful Jasmine Castaldy. She was the beloved sister of Laurie Mirance (Jimmy) Marion Gigante (Dr. Joe) Vincent Sottile (Jill – fiancée) and her best “sister” friend Theresa Einterz (Dec-Bob) She was the beloved aunt for 11 nieces and nephews, multiple great nieces and nephews and countless forever friends.

A burial will occur Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Breslau Cemetery, N Monroe Ave & Newark St, Lindenhurst, NY 11757.
