Joseph P. Gioconda

Joe was born in Brooklyn, New York to Louis Gioconda and Carmela Patrisso in April 1942. He married Margaret in June 1970 in Maspeth, New York. He proudly served in the United States Army, in the 1st Infantry Division during the Vietnam Conflict. He later went on to serve nearly thirty years in the New York City Police Department as a Police Officer and later a Detective Specialist. After retiring from the NYPD he worked at Good Samaritan Hospital in Security.

Joe is survived by: his son Joe Jr. and wife Alison, their two children, Luke and Morgan; his son Christopher and wife Laurie, their three children Margaret, Laurel, and Christopher; his son William; his longtime friend and companion Pat; his sister Sara and brothers Louis and Michael, along with all his nieces and nephews. Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, his sister Rena and his brothers Philip and Nicholas.

A visitation for Joseph will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Homes, 448 W Main St, Babylon, New York 11702. A mass of Christian burial will occur Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, 455 Hunter Ave, West Islip, New York 11795. A committal service will occur Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 11:30 AM at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd, Calverton, New York 11933.

In Lieu of flowers, Joe requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
