Met Mal while he was working for Lilco and assigned to Shoreham in the late 70’s.  I worked very close with him there and became good friends with both he and Jane.  Remember going to Oak Island several times and to Westbury Music Theater together.  Actually, had the pleasure with speaking with him earlier this year over the phone.  Glad we had that conversation……really going to miss him.

Well I can't say this strongly enough in how proud I felt when the Martling and Lewis families got together.  As a kid this was some of the greatest memories i've always held on to.  Thanksgivings and digging clams at Oak Island.  All my aunts and uncles and cousins just laughing and simply enjoying each others company and to me it just doesn't get better then that.  Uncle Mal and Aunt Jane were 2 people that I always looked up to and I literally 
 enjoyed every moment I spent with them.  My mom Joanie would always talk about her brother and the conversation always veered into laughter between the two of us, boy did she love her brother Malcolm.  Uncle Mal you will be surely missed by all the Martlings and please know that you and Aunt Jane raised a truly great family.

There are so many good memories...

I will always remember Mal’s “adventure” buying the old clam boat and  towing it over to Oak Island.  Since he was Chief, there was a lot of BFD activity / support.   Although it sunk on the way over, it somehow lasted for many years. 

RIP  Mal...Thanks to you & “Miss Roberts” for being  very special friends...

I had the pleasure of knowing & being in the Babylon Fire Dept. with Mal for 35 years. We had some good times @ the fire house. When he was working for LILCO  moving electric lines and poles in Huntington Station I was stopped at light in front of a church and I yelled to him "Don't touch nothing Mal"  Ps the church burned and was closed for a year. Next time I saw Mal I said  I told you not to touch nothing. He said it wasn't my fault !!!!   Rip Chief
