I will forever remember how Aunt Maria gave me a warm smile and hug at family gatherings.  It was always great to see her and catch up.  I have fond memories of visiting Aunt Maria, Rose Ann, and Heather throughout my childhood and adolescence.  Heather and I still reminisce about the great times we had with friends and family in Babylon.  Rest in Peace, Aunt Maria.  Your family loves you.  Love, Tom (aka Tommy).


So many wonderful memories of my grandma. Having ice cream on the stoops in Brooklyn, letting her grandchildren pick the type of pasta for dinner, joy she got when she cat babysat, and our phone chats which we always end with “love you always”.   

When she visited, time was filled with playing cards, board games, talking walks and plenty of laughter.

Whenever she cat babysat for us, one of the cats would watch her from the top of the stairs while she filled the water and food bowls. Years later, she would smile and laugh about this cat as she remembered him eying her. 

Cherish the memories, her soul will forever be with us.

Forty seven years ago I  met my mother in law  for the first time.  I couldn't ask for a better one.  She was always there for us when we needed help in any way.  Maria was a second mother to me in many ways.   
The last two years of her life I was privileged to care for her. We became even closer and shared a few secrets.  She will always be in my heart and soul.  I  love you

I’ll miss our conversations about soap operas and life and I’ll miss your funny stories and sense of humor. You were a trailblazer, Aunt Marie, and I’ll always admire the way you fought for Tommy and for the way you took care of your family.
But my greatest memory is of the time you bought me a watch for my Communion and the googly eyes moved back and forth. I thought you were the greatest thing since sliced bread and I continue to feel that way … now and always.

Marie became my neighbor when we moved to Babylon 20 years ago. Through out the years, my family and I had the pleasure to come to know sure a loving, caring person. 
Marie, my mom and Eileen would sit on my porch for hours, telling stories and laughing, I loved watching them together and hearing them laugh. 
Marie was so proud of all of her children, especially Tommy. I can still remember the pride in her voice the day she told us that Tommy became an Eagle Scout. 
I will miss seeing her beautiful smile and welcoming wave. 
May she be resting in the arms of the Angels.      

I knew Marie since I was in college with Rose Ann. I remember when I was Marie's companion for a weekend while the Normans attended a family wedding in Philadelphia. We had a wonderful time ordering takeout pizza and Chinese food, watching Magnum PI and talking with Tom who was giving us telephone updates on the wedding. I learned a lot from Marie about life and will miss her. Godspeed. 

When I think of my grandma, I remember how happy she was when family was around. She loved everyone so much and when she saw all of us interacting and having fun she would light up.  That is the image of my grandma that I will always remember.  

The one thing that I have always taken from my grandma is the way she would treat everyone with respect even if they did not deserve it.  As a kid I noticed this and it will forever be a part of who I am because of her.

What can I say about a woman named Maria (mom to me). Mom showed her children how to live a good Christian  life daily. Always giving herself unselfishly, helping with large Italian family gatherings, mom seemed to never tire- washing one more dish in a hot Brooklyn apartment for her family.
One memory I would like to share is Christmas Eve. After a very long day from working as a bank teller, my mother would prepare the Christmas Eve meal from  antipasto,, linguini with calamari , baked  lobster , clams,steamed mussels, stewed cod, fried shrimp and flounder - ending with homemade cheesecake and ice cream. All dishes would be soaked in the old double sink since my mom and pop would head out to Babylon in the station wagon. Her grandchildren were excited that their grandparents would be there on Christmas morning. After all were in bed, my mom and pop helped load up the children’s Christmas stockings ! My mom and I would sit in front of the tree, totally exhausted but content- knowing that the children would be up in a few hours to unwrap the gifts.  That Jenzi smile and kiss  on my cheek, telling me to get some rest will be with me always.  

Love you always mom. You taught us well!! You are a part of me always.

I remember Mrs Amendolara, aka Rose’s mom, as a proud mother, smiling and watchful. Family was everything to her and her love for her family was palpable from the look of love in her eyes and the way she brought up her children to stay close. 

A few years ago, I had some cousins come over for New Year’s Eve.  As always the Jacobellis cousins have a terrific time sharing stories and enjoying an Italian dinner.  My favorite part of the evening was a toast for the New Year and I handed out blowers that were popular back in the 60’s and 70’s. Everyone laughed and blew those as hard as they could repeatedly. Seeing the joy on Jenzie, Rosie and my mom’s face (and everyone else) was priceless!

My fondest memories of Mrs. Amendolara were when Roseann and I were growing up.  We were young girls attending St. Ephrem’s School and every time I visited their home, Mrs. Amendolara always had a treat for us and many words of wisdom. I remember her talking to me and Roseann about the possibility of finding our future husbands!  She was a very sweet and kind woman.  Roseann, you did a lot for your Mom. Good bless her now in heaven. Sending love and prayers and deepest condolences to Roseann, Joseph and Thomas and their families.  Heaven has another Angel. 

Dear SISTER Jen:

While we haven't seen enough of each other lately, I have enjoyed our telephone chats and updates.

The best memory for me --being selfish--is when you got married to Willie. You moved out of the apartment and a twin bed became open. Pat moved into your old bedroom with Mary. 

And I moved out of the crib in Mom & Dad's room onto the Castro convertible love seat bed in the living room!!!!

My other fond memory is when I was lucky enough at 11  & 12 years old to walk to St. Ephrem's with RoseAnn and Joseph to school!!!

I will miss you. Your BROTHER Ben.
