I am so heartbroken. Matt was an excellent performer and a great friend. I was lucky enough to share the stage with him in SCCC's production of Cabaret. One of my favorite memories with Matt is when we had a dance battle at the Theatre Awards Banquet. He had the best dance moves and an amazing singing voice too. I am blessed to be able to call Matt my friend. He had the biggest heart. I want to thank you, Matt, for being such a great friend. I am sending you the biggest hug right now. You touched so many hearts. To the Lightsey family and all of Matt's loved ones, I am so sorry for your loss. Rest in Peace, Matt. I miss and love you, bud!

Matt and I were coworkers at Harbes. More importantly he was a great friend. From the moment we met he always made me laugh and the video I attached is just one of the many memories i will cherish of him. Matts energy and attitude towards life cant even be put into words. Rest easy Matt. 

Matt and I met back in 2020 at Harbes Family Farm. Him and I were co-workers and we would do hayrides together. Matt truly enjoyed entertaining and always had the crowd singing along to our hayride songs. I am truly saddened by the loss of Matthew, but I know he is resting in paradise. God has chosen to take you into his kingdom of heaven and seat you at his side. Rest easy brother. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Lightsey family during this troubling time. 

I’ve only had brief encounters with Matthew at school but every one was memorable. He always had a positive attitude and always ready with a joke to brighten up the room. Seeing him perform in Those We Lost was an honor because he really was a true talent. The world and all those who got to share moments with him will miss him dearly. Rest In Peace. 

My favorite thing about Matt was his sense of humor, even if I was in the worst mood/having the worst day he never failed to make me laugh; he was truly such a bright and fun person to be around. It was always so entertaining watching him dance and sing at the beginning of the pig races, his energy was so contagious and he never failed to make people smile. My heart goes out to the family during this difficult time. May Matt Rest In Peace.

I did not know Matt personally, I just new of him through the stories, pictures and videos  my kids would share while working with him. In those little moments, Matt’s smile laugh, funny stories and amazing personality became part of our home.  There are no words that describe the loss of a child, but I hope through these memories and stories of your son. You find a little peace knowing the beautiful impact he had on everyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with you ❤️

One of my favorite memories with Matt was while he was entertaining the crowd for a pig race he decided that he could do his own stunts. He then proceeded to hop the fence all while interacting and joking with the audience. I was in the back waiting for my cue to release the pigs when Matt realized he had ripped his pants.When he realized he just started laughing and making references to the SpongeBob episode. He always had a way of making everyone around him happy:)

Over our time together at harbes farm matthew was a great friend. I remember when he started working with us and there wasnt a dull moment from there. He was always one to light up a room and fill it with laughter. Matthew was so full of life, talented, funny, and one of a kind. I looked up to matt a lot since he was a year older than me. Im so grateful i was able to be his friend. rest in peace matthew. 

In 2019 Harbes Family Farm was looking for a new Pig Race host. I had reached out to SCCC to see if any acting students would be interested in the job. Matt's professor had posted some flyers for me around the campus. About a month later Matt called me in response to the ad. I typically don't answer calls from people I don't know but picked up asking "Who is this?" We got to talking and Matt came out for an audition. He was hired on the spot and within a few weeks was our new pig race host. He embraced his new persona as "Clyde" and started entertaining scores of guests doing pig races, and later kids concerts and hosting hayrides. Matt loved creating a backstory about Clyde. As it turned out Clyde was from Oak Ridge, Tennessee ("Look it up" he'd tell the audience) and he came east to do pig races and try his hand at stand up comedy – which would then lead into some silly pig jokes. Matt liked to tell a story of meeting some audience members who were actually from Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and how he went on to convince them he was from there also! He was always fun and upbeat and the kids who visited the farm loved him. He will be missed by myself and all of his co-workers in the Barnyard Adventure. There will never be another Matt Lightsey!

Matt always had the nicest personality and the funniest sense of humor. I will never forget how many times at work he would constantly make me, and other people laugh. My favorite memory is when his hat flew off his head on the tractor ride. Without second thought, he jumped off of the back of the ride and ran back to where his hat laid. He then had to chase the hayride, all while everyone was in hysterics. Thank you Matthew for all the amazing memories. May you Rest In Peace. 

I’ve known Matt since elementary school and may I say it has been such an honor to grow up alongside him. To watch his love for the arts begin at such a young age and blossom into something untouchable, his stage presence and voice never failed to give me goosebumps. He’s the type of kid that lights up a room the minute he steps through the door and will always bring positivity to every situation. His laugh, his smile, his personality, are all things that make him so unique and I will miss him dearly. He not only has changed West Babylon’s Music Department, but the West Babylon/Babylon community as a whole which his legacy will continue on.
My heart goes out to his family during this difficult time. May he Rest In Peace and find himself to the nearest Broadway stage up in the clouds. 

Me and Matt would do the pig races and kids concerts at harbes farm back in 2020. I cant tell you how much joy and happiness he brought to the people around him. From playing music, to cracking jokes, to genuinely being there for each other, in one summer I made a great friend that was more vibrant and full of life then most people I ever met. I will miss you Matt. Heaven got a great entertainer and an even better person. See you again soon.

At work, whenever he’d wander over by whatever I was assigned to, we’d talk about books and he’d joke about my brother. One time, while on his way over, he threw his water bottle up in the air while in the ring for pig races, and it hit the bathtub, and heft a massive dent in the water bottle. He said he had figured he needed a new one anyways, but then the rest of the summer passed and by the next season, he was still using the dented water bottle. 

My most fond memory of Matt was how during every pig race we would also laugh and make everyone laugh I could see the joy that he got when he made other laugh the smile that he would bring to other but also when he lost his hat on the hayride and jumped off to go and get it 

You don't know me - I am a nurse at Stony Brook Hospital and on my way home, I passed the accident scene - it brought back the death of my 27-year-old grandson who died one year ago today.   So, with heart-felt sadness, I want you to know that this stranger thinks of you and Matthew every day,    Madeline DiSomma

I remember Matthew in shows with my daughter Angie. Such a talented , wonderful young man. My heart is broken with you at this tremendous loss. May Matthew rest in peace with Jesus. Praying for his family and friends for comfort and strength at this most difficult time.  

The first time I saw Matthew was in a play. He was playing the role of candle stick in Beauty and the Beast. If memory serves, he even had and nailed the French accent.  That stood out to me because my mother is from France.  During the play, I remember saying to myself "this kid can act". Months later, I saw him again on stage, this time it was with my daughter in The Wizard of Oz. She played Dorothy and he played the Scarecrow, and once again, he did a brilliant job. A natural talent. So it shocked and saddened us when we learned of Matthew's passing this week.
 At this time, Taylor and I would like to extend our deepest sympathy and sorrow to all of Matthew's loved ones during this difficult time. He, his family and friends are in our prayers.
