

Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary, may they rest in peace together, son, James, three siblings and beloved dog, Sunshine.
Michael is survived by his sister, Marie Delgigante, sons, Michael Jr. (Angela), Anthony (Rosemary), Billy (Maryann), Nick (Ann), Joey (Cheryl), and daughters, Barbara Papenhausen; Maryann (Ron) Seibel, Harriet (Tim) Dwyer; daughter-in-law, Theresa, twenty-five adoring grandchildren and thirty-two cherished great-grandchildren.
A proud World War II US Navy veteran (1944-1946), Michael served in the Asiatic-Pacific theater on USS LST-812, Tank Landing Ship. He participated in the assault and occupation of Iwo Jima Okinawa and the naval ceremonies after Japanese surrender.
After returning from military service, Michael worked for the New York City Water Department. In retirement, Michael volunteered at a nursing home and Our Lady of Grace Church in West Babylon. An enthusiast of Frank Sinatra, Michael would frequently serenade family and friends with a Sinatra favorite. Above all, Michael was dedicated to his large family, graceful in temperament and charitable with his time. He will be missed and remembered.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Friday, January 12th, 2018 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 666 Albin Road, West Babylon, New York 11702. Michael will be buried with his family in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram, New York.
