I had the pleasure of knowing Pastor Bond for  the first 14 years of my life in America; from when I was adopted. Despite the personal obstacles and struggles that I had, Pastor Bond took me under her wing and mentored me. She continued to open her arms to me. She baptized and confirmed me. Through my confirmation classes with her, she embraced every question I had about the Bible and God.  Pastor Bond was a close friend to my passed grandparents - bringing smiles and laughter to them often. Pastor Bond was an inspiration and rock for not just her church but for me, personally. Sending prayers to her family as they grieve and rejoice the gifts God gave through Pastor Bond.

For almost 30 years, Pastor Bond was the longest serving pastor at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church because her congregation loved her, and she was a very good pastor.  She always acted in the best interests of the congregation as a whole.  I was privileged to work with her on the Church Council and on various committees at church.  She married Rob and I 21 years ago, and baptized both of our sons, my nieces and nephew.  I will also always remember her kindness with a smile, and our conversations ranging from our thoughts about current events to our love for the Mets.

God Jesus Bless Pastor Bond soul.  She was Holy and kind.  Blessed year of 2007 to 2008 for my child-attended COC Pre-School; that was a Blessed and Brilliant year.   Pastor Bond was a nice Principal.   Blessings Prayers Peace AgapeLove to her family & congregation.

I am sorry to hear of the passing away of Pastor Bond.   As I am an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Islip Terrace, I had numerous discussions with Pastor Bond, as we had different supply pastors, and then an interim pastor.   She was very helpful, knowledgeable, and had a positive attitude.  We saw her recently at our church as she led the instillation ceremony for our present pastor, Pastor Shelhart.  Hearing the eulogies at the prayer ceremony, she had a positive influence on many people.  She surely will be missed!

It's no secret that Joanne and I shared a unique relationship.  She called me PVC and I called her Chief.  Both terms of endearment.  When I was interning at COC 20 years ago, I volunteered to make "homemade" meatballs for the Prime Timers Luncheon.  As luck would have it there was a recall on chopped meat at COSTCO that day.  We didn't know what to do so we "borrowed" frozen meatballs from the food pantry.  That afternoon, Alberta announced that "The Vicar made HOMEMADE meatballs for the luncheon".  Uh oh!  Joanne looked at me hoping I would come clean but I stayed silent and we served the fraudulent meatballs.  After eating a meatball, Betty Hoffman who was the director of the Food Pantry at the time stood up and proclaimed, "these are food pantry meatballs".  The cat was out of the bag and that day lived on in infamy as "Meatball Gate".  Joanne and I got many laughs out that for the next 20 years.  In fact we always seemed to be laughing at something.  Rest in peace dear Chief, until we meet again.  Peace and Love,  PVC. 
 P.S.  Her kindness and collegiality will be genuinely missed.  They don't make them like her anymore.  Oh btw I wore long pants today LOL

I knew Joanne as the wife of my first cousin Allan for many years. She was a delightful person , always charming, caring, and thoughtful. Our deepest condolences to the surviving members of her family and her congregation. May her memory be for a blessing .

Pastor Bond had a special relationship with our family, including Gene and Ethel Wicks.  She was always there for them.  When Gene was terminally ill, she was by his side every day.

Pastor Bond was more than our associate Pastor at St. David’s with Pastor Scholz. She was a mentor, advisor and friend. She led her congregation with love and strength. She baptized our daughter, Sara Grace,in 1995. The Young At Hearts group adored her. She started the Mommy and Me program known as Little Lambs which Sara was first apart of as well as the preschool program . We were saddened when she had to leave us  to move to her own parish, but God used her in such an incredible way. She encouraged me to become a lector, and a deacon at the altar. She called me recently to accept a position in her preschool because she knew I had taught school for over 36 yrs. She always remembered her “Little Lambs”. We are deeply saddened by her loss. There will never ever be anyone like her. God gave her this purpose and He needed her to do more for Him from above. God bless her forever... Linda, Michael and Sara Patrissi

Pastor Bond was always there for us, no matter what we needed.  I attended church services and taught a Sunday school class.   I moved from Long Island in 2007 but attended Cross of Christ church whenever I went back to visit family.   I will always remember Pastor Bond for the wonderful person that she was, and for the inspiration of her messages to everyone who attended her Sunday services.

Joanne exuded Jesus Christ throughout her life.  Her call allowed her to aptly express her faith.  At Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Woodside, NY, we sang together in our choir, taught together in our Sunday Bible classes, and shared duties on our administration Board. Joanne always put others first, a living image of Christ.  She rests with Abraham.  Allan Larsen

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Pastor Bond. She was such an incredible to say the least. She honored our family by baptizing our son into the Lutheran Faith in 2019. Pastor Bond also performed my confirmation. She is the reason why I remain a faithful follower of God and seek to fulfill her teachings of “feed the sheep.” I will miss her greatly. Sending my love and condolences to her family and fellowship. May she rest in eternal peace.
