On January 21, 2019, we lost a beloved gentle soul, TJ McGurk, loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He leaves behind his loving wife Christy and three beautiful daughters Emily, Meghan, Madison, his parents Tom and Andrea, his sister Tammy, brother-in-law Mike, their children, TJ’s Goddaughter Morgan, nephews Sean and Logan. TJ was a kind gentle selfless man that loved his family above everything, they were his world and he was there's and now their world is forever changed without him. A devoted loving father to his girls, wife, sister and his parents. He always did what he had to be there for family. Nothing gave him more joy then to watching his children doing what they loved. They had a common bond of sports, one of his passions that he shared with them. TJ was an outstanding athlete, and excelled in everything he did, whether it was ice hockey, bowling, skiing, tennis, golf, coaching soccer, basketball and softball. He shared his passion of sports with his girls. His easy, comfortable manner allowed him to connect with each child and help them realize their own skills. He watched them discover their abilities, help build confidence, instill positive ethics and the enjoyment of the game. Whatever TJ did in his short life, he did out of caring for others, never expecting anything in return.
He prided himself on being able to offer his help when it was needed. He embraced life with his witty sense of humor, his generosity, his contagious laughter, and a smile that could light up a room . But the measure of a man’s soul can be seen in their eyes and there you could see that the depth of love and kindness he brought to others . His character as man was built on the foundation from his amazing parents. They shared an unwavering love and devotion to him, his sister, his children and his wife.
One of his goals was to be involved in his community, from the time he became a volunteer fireman to coaching several sports over the years he met those goals. It didn’t matter who you were, if you needed help and he could, he would. Work was a very important part of his life, he loved what he did and loved being a part of his union, a brotherhood of many. He found his work exciting and challenging.
He was loved by many and will be missed. He was a special soul here on earth and will remain in our hearts forever. For those who had the pleasure of knowing him you’re among the lucky ones. We will all hold him in our heart. May he soar high with the Angels that will watch over and protect his family and be on the sidelines of every game, the biggest fan. Fly high sweet angel!
