Andrew Sanchez, known to friends and family as Andy, was born to Shirley Wise and Andrew Sanchez Sr. in Bakersfield, California on May 15, 1950. He passed away with family by his side on September 5, 2012. He honorably served in the United States Navy and fought for his country in South Vietnam Mekong Delta from 1969-1970. He was as passionate about Vietnam veterans here and there. He was awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He served his country proudly.
He married his best friend Teri Sanchez and lived happily ever after for 41 years. He worked at the Gas Company for 30 years starting as a crew assistant and ending his career as New Project Manager.
He is survived by his wife Teri; son Jason and his wife Angie, grandsons Taylor and Styles. Daughter Judi and her husband Gary, grandson Cooper and granddaughter Bella. Sisters Toni and her husband Ron; Deanna and her husband Don. Brother Dennis and his wife Nancie.
Andy enjoyed drag racing, Nascar, fishing, sports and anything that included spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was influential in so many people's lives, he will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery 30338 East Bear Mountain Boulevard Arvin, California 93203 on Wednesday September 12, 2012 at 10:00am. Reception will immediately follow at the American Legion Post #26 2020 H Street Bakersfield, California 93301.
