Marcus Lee Ussery

Marc Ussery was born on Oct. 19, 1947 in Merced, Ca. to Evelyn Ussery and Granville T. Ussery. He was raised in Bakersfield, Ca. from the age of 2. He joined the Air Force in 1965 after graduating from High School and achieved the rank of staff sergeant. Marc served two tours in Vietnam. After leaving the service, Marc became an Operating Engineer with IUOE, Local 12. He worked for Granite Construction Company for many years. Upon retirement, Marc moved to his residence on the Kern River. Marc loved to fish and hunt. He cared deeply for his family. He was a great and loyal friend.

Marc is survived by: his older brother Granville John Ussery and his wife Bonnie; his younger sister Kathleen and her husband Fred Williams; his nephews Eric Lee Porterfield, John C. Ussery and Troy M. Ussery, and his niece Brooke Porterfield and their families; and numerous cousins.

Marc is much loved and will be greatly missed.

Services will be held Monday, August 22, 2011 at 2 pm at the Veterans Cemetery, 30338 East Bear Mt. Blvd., Arvin, Ca. (approx. 1 mile south of HWY 58).
