Leroy "Antwan" Cothran was born on February 3, 1954 in Spartansburg, South Carolina to Blanche and James Cothran. Antwan grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and was educated in the Baltimore School System. Because Antwan wanted things on his own and had his eye on a white sports car, he started working at Bethlehem Steel at an early age. Antwan went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Terre Haute, Indiana. He later moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he worked as a Press Operator at TRW.
His commitment to his faith strongly influenced his beliefs and interactions. During his early adult years, he served as a faithful Muslim, later returning to his Christian roots. Upon his return to Baltimore in 2013, he began worshipping at the Southern Baptist Church.
Antwan was a naturally introverted philosopher yet he was able to dynamically engage those around him. He was an avid reader and creative writer who loved to laugh and have a good time. He especially enjoyed watching his favorite basketball teams, the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers. He was fascinated with the art of magic; he could watch "The Carbonaro Effect", a hidden camera magic show, for hours. He loved to eat good food (especially all things sweets, eggs, "tuna fish" and peanut butter with bananas).
Most of all, he loved his family. He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Blanche Johnson, his daughters: Leroya Antionette and Maya Briana Cothran, sisters: Patricia Mason (Willie), Gloria Smith, Gail Cleggs (Lorenzo), Chris Ward (Anthony), Toya, April, and Maisha Johnson, as well as, his brothers: James Cothran, David Cothran (Dora) and Preston Johnson. Also cherishing his life are various Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and precious friends including Mr. Rufus and Janice. He was preceded in death by his father, James Cothran and Dad, Willie Johnson and his brother Dwayne Cothran
