Nancy Marie Bortle

On February 9, 2022, Nancy Marie Bortle (nee Owens) passed away at home with her family by her side. She was the devoted mother of Sandra Welk, Debra Lathe, Linda Larrimore, Patricia Richardson, Barbara Moates, and the late Jerry Gainey, Jr. and their late spouses. Cherished grandmother of Jennifer, Stephanie, Donna, Barbara, Dennis, Christy, Jillian, Brenton, Trevor, Christina, and Anthony; loving great-grandmother of sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; dear sister of Clayton Owens, Jr. and his wife Mary, Carolyn Scheydt and her husband Robert, the late Freddie Owens and his late wife Janet, the late Lois Mooney, and the late JoAnne Owens. Nancy was predeceased by her daughter’s father Jerry Gainey, Sr. She is survived by her brother-in-law Henry Mooney, as well as many loving extended family and friends.

There will be a Receiving of Family and Friends on Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, at the Charles S. Zeiler Funeral Home, 6224 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21224. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 11 AM, at the Back River United Methodist Church, 544 Back River Neck Rd, Essex, MD 21221. Interment will be private.
