Pat Curtice was born in New York on October 28, 1929 and passed away on February 26, 2026 at the age of 96. Wherever she lived throughout her life- whether in New York, Florida, Connecticut, or Maryland her home was always a gathering spot for family and friends. She loved to entertain, cook, and play music. She enjoyed being a mother to her 3 children, sewing costumes for school plays and baking for every holiday despite working full time. She loved flowers, butterflies, and all shades of purple. She was a music major at the University of Miami, playing double bass in the orchestra as well as percussion in the marching band. This began a lifelong love of music, and she played in many jazz ensembles and orchestras, most recently with the Danbury Symphony. While attending an Orchestra camp for seniors at Kent School, she met Lou Carrafiello, who became her loving partner for the next 18 years, until his death in 2023. Professionally, she was an Assistant Director of TV Commercials and Industrial films, and a proud member of the Director’s Guild of America. She served on numerous committees, as secretary/treasurer of the AD/UPM council, as well as overseeing several renovations of the New York DGA headquarters. In 2003 she was presented with a special service award for her extraordinary contributions to that organization.
After retirement, she continued to share her gifts as a hostess- as an event planner through her company Affairs, and a cooking class she developed called Simple Seductive Suppers, for people who wanted to make romantic dinners but lacked the skills and confidence. She was a member of the 4th Unitarian Universalist Church of New York.
She is survived by her children, Nina Noble (David), Michael Kostroff, and Gregory Kostroff, Grandchildren Nick Noble (Marnie) and Jason Noble, Nephews Robert Curtice (Gerry) and John Curtice (Kathy), Scott Curtice (Julie), Eric Curtice (Amy) and Niece Corrie Curtice (Rodney) as well as Cousins Richard Pearl (Lauretta), Johanna Clarke (Dennis), and Laura Tucker. She was preceded in death by her parents Morris and Leonore Curtice, brother Eddie Curtice, sister Flora Hansen.
A Memorial will be held on May 2, 2026 from 1-4pm New York Society for Ethical Culture, 2 W. 64th Street, New York, NY.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Director’s Guild of America Foundation https://www.directorsguildfoundation.org/Donate
