

On September 18, 2015 ROBERT “BOB” O’DONOGHUE passed away at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Born in Washington DC and raised in Arlington, he graduated from Georgetown University. Upon his graduation he spent 38 years in the banking business and worked for Riggs Bank the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, and Bank of America with a concentration on bank operations. He spearheaded many innovations in the banking business including the first ATM’s in Washington and the use of personal computers for bank-to-bank transactions throughout California and the West.
Bob was an avid Redskins fan with season tickets for over 40 years and was also a long time member of the Metropolitan Club of Washington.
During his retirement years, he was an active member of the Baltimore Federal Hill neighborhood association where he edited the neighborhood newsletter for many years and was past president of the Salty Sands Condominium Association in Ocean City Maryland where he maintained a getaway from the city. He loved to play guitar and was a voracious reader. Bob was known for his quick wit and great sense of humor.
Bob is survived by his wife of 33 Years Wendy O’Donoghue (nee Hobbes); daughters Julieann Novais and her husband John; Geri O’Donoghue; grandchildren Emma ,Audrey, Tara, Devin and Dillon; siblings Ross O’Donoghue, Ellen O’Donoghue, Nancy Studds; his cats Calvin, Scooter and The late Lyle.
Inurnment will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 11:15am at St John’s Forest Glen Cemetery, 9700 Rosensteel Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20910 with a lunch immediately following across the street. www.burgee-henss-seitz.com
