Daniel Grynke

Daniel Grynke was born on January 8, 1934 in Barrhead (old townsite) to Edmund & Natalie (Schulz) Grynke. He was their eldest child and was raised on the farm in Vega. He married Frieda Blum on July 28, 1956 and they lived in Edmonton where their three children were born.

They purchased some land in Vega and in 1967 moved there and began farming. In 1998 they retired from farming and in 2004 they moved to the town of Barrhead. Then Daniel moved to Hillcrest Lodge in 2013 and to Barrhead Continuing Care Centre in 2020.

On Sunday, March 22, 2026, Daniel passed away at the age of 92 years.

He is survived by his wife, Frieda Grynke (Blum); son, Clifford (Cathy) Grynke; daughter, Bridget (Don) Busby and daughter, Wendy (Randy) Lotholz; grandchildren, Justin (Samantha) Grynke, Kaitlin Grynke, Mandy (Chris) Perkovic, Shawn Busby, Cindy (Dan) Hanks, Melissa Lotholz, Rebecca (Landon) Thys; great grandchildren, Logan, Alaina, Danika, Milena, Oscar, Winston, Florence, Riley; brother, Herbert (Bonnie) Grynke and brother-in-law, Erich Blum.

Predeceased by his parents, Edmund Grynke & Natalie Grynke (Schulz); sister, Margaret (Walter) Ferchoff; brother, Leonard (Elaine) Grynke; sister-in-law, Aurelie (Reinhold) Renz; brother-in-law, Friedrich (Else) Blum; sister-in-law, Rosalie Blum.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Barrhead Bethel Pentecostal Church at 1:30 pm. A private interment will take place at Vega Community Cemetery.
