

John will be sadly missed by his wife, Carol with whom he just celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary on July 4, 2020; daughter, Shannon (Joseph) Burnett; son, Shaun (Heather) Lawton; John has also left 5 grandchildren, Michael, Corey and Crystal Burnett, Moira and Chloe Lawton, Darrel and Candace;
3 great grandchildren, Holly Dwyer, Kaleb and Hunter Burnett; brother in law, Henry Hearn; sister in law, Elaine Lawton; brother’s, Trevor (Patricia), Thomas (Judith), and Richard (Sandra); sisters, Bette Alix, Janet (Leo) Amiot, and Shelly Lawton; and numerous dear relatives and friends to many to mention.
John is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Leone Lawton; grandson, Nicholas Burnett; sister in law, Marlaine Hearn; sister, Anne Huff; 3 brothers, Jim, Terry, and Randy.
John became a member of the Free Mason's of the Alberta Blue lodge in 1982. He was raised into the Red Lodge in 1984. John entered into Noble of the Mystic Shrine in 1986, and became a Knight of the Order of the Temple in 1987. At the time of John's passing he was an Honorary Life Member of Highlands Unity Lodge #2013. John was also made a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion #210 in 2011.
John received many Potentates Awards and Recognitions for the work he did for Shrine Hospitals for Crippled Children and Shriners Burn Institutes.
The Lawton and Burnett families would like take this time to thank Tammy Dempster (John's Palliative Care Nurse), Michelle Smith and all the staff in Acute Care at Barrhead Hospital.
Special thanks to niece Brenda Lawton and Trevor and Patricia Lawton for their help and support with John these past few months.
The family wants to give a special Thank You to Joseph and Shannon Burnett for relocating to Fort Assiniboine to help and be with Carol and John these last several weeks.
In following with John's wishes there will be no funeral.
John will be cremated, and a family memorial will be planned for later this summer.
