Martha Schiewe Wiese

July 8, 1922 – April 10, 2013

The family of Martha Wiese of Barrhead, AB is saddened to announce her passing on April 10, 2013. Martha was born in Bekescha, Poland on July 8, 1922. At the age of 90, she is survived by her seven children, Jeannette (Clarence) Schultz, Diana (Ewald) Wruk, Larry (Helen) Wiese, James (Karleen) Wiese, Jerry Wiese, Gordon Wiese, and Kathleen Wiese; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill (Marie) Schiewe; one brother-in-law, Lloyd Peterson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Martha is predeceased by her parents, Wilhelm and Julianna Schiewe; brother, Art Schiewe; sister, Ida Peterson; husband, Oskar Wiese; daughter, Shirley Wruk (Wiese); sons-in-law, Erwin Wruk and Edward Wegner; and grandson, Russell Wruk. Martha and her husband, Oskar farmed in the Mosside area until they retired to Barrhead in 1975. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church (L.C.W.). Her creativity in painting is displayed in many homes. She treasured family, friends, and had a great love for her church. She was always anxious for spring to get planting her garden and working in her flower beds. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the St. John’s Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Donations in memory of Martha are gratefully accepted to St. John’s Lutheran Church Building Fund, STARS, or a Charity of One’s Choice.
