Survived By: Wife Marge Jones, daughters Sandy (Mark) Holowaychuk and Kelsey (Brent) McCracken, grandchildren Kelton, Payton, Danny, Brady and Brennan, sister Karen Kangas, nephew Ryan Kangas, niece Rachel (Dave) Darnley, numerous brother and sister-in-laws as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

December 25th, 2024 we said goodbye to a husband, father, papa, brother, brother in law, uncle and friend. Our hearts ache for a man who was larger than life not just in stature but in personality as well. Rick was a man who loved to laugh and have a good time. Any excuse to get together with friends was a great idea and often the more the merrier. Rick made his way through life with integrity and always stood up for what he believed in while still respecting others’ opinions. He might not agree with you but he would give you the chance to voice your side. Rick was firm but fair, loving and kind, knowledgeable and wise, but most notable would be his witty sarcasm and sense of humour. He could control a classroom, gymnasium or bus with a “look” but could also have everyone in stitches with a few words. Rick was a man of many hats over his 75 years and as much as he loved being a husband, father, and teacher, his most treasured role was that of Papa to Kelton, Payton, Danny, Brady and Brennan. We wish more than anything that his grandkids could have had more time with Papa to truly appreciate the man that he was and that Rick could have been here to help guide them into adulthood. We hold tight to the fact that the time Papa spent with his 5 grandchildren made an impression and will remain with them for the rest of their lives. We honour Rick by living our lives to the fullest. By doing everything to the best of our ability then pushing that little bit harder to make ourselves better. Most importantly though, we do this with a lot of love and laughter along the way.

We, the family, appreciate all the love and support we have received since Rick’s passing. It has meant a great deal to us and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
