Ronald William Kurtz

August 26, 1941 – January 31, 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald William Kurtz of Highridge, AB., husband of Margaret (Maggie) Kurtz and father of Haley (Ande) Jacksen, of Ft. Assiniboine, and Kerry Kurtz, of Edmonton. After a long struggle with ill health, Ron passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Barrhead Healthcare Centre, at the age of 71. Ron was born at Edmonton, Alberta, on August 26, 1941 to Eli and Elinor Kurtz of Highridge, Alberta. He lived, farmed, and raised his family on the family farm at Highridge until ill health forced him to retire in 2007. He continued to live at his home until a sudden illness caused him to be hospitalized briefly before his death. He is survived by his wife and children, as well as his brother, Ted (Frieda) Kurtz of Westlock, sisters, Maxine (Robert) Munro of Busby, Betty (George) Lister, of Dunstable, one step-granddaughter, Courtney McPherson, of Spruce Grove, one aunt, Sister Theresa Kurtz, of Nova Scotia, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous other family and many dear friends. He is predeceased by both parents, as well as his other aunts and uncles. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at the Highridge Hall on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at 2:00 pm, with Rev. David Pype officiating. Rose Garden Chapels of Barrhead in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted directly to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta.
