Trynie Van Etten was carried home peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour on January 14, 2026. She was predeceased by her devoted and loving husband, Albert. Trynie met Albert, and their story began with a partnership rooted in love and faith. They were married in April 1957 and began their life together in Barrhead, Alberta. Though they made Canada their home, both held close ties to family in the Netherlands and visited whenever possible. In 1962, Trynie and Albert built their forever home, where Trynie continued to live happily until 2025. She lived a beautiful life filled with family gatherings, cherished Sunday dinners, travel to many wonderful places, and countless hours spent gardening in her extensive backyard. Trynie was passionate about serving others and was actively involved with the Christian Women’s Club, volunteered faithfully at St. John’s Lutheran Church, and enjoyed knitting, biking, and walking. She will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a kind, caring, and thoughtful woman whose life was guided by faith and love. Trynie leaves behind her loving family, including her two devoted daughters, Alana (Morris) Steinbring and Mona (Don) Koberstein, who faithfully visited her each day for coffee—moments that brought her great joy. As well as her eight grandchildren, Darren (Jodi), Josh (Lee Ann), Laura (Jason), Wade (Glynis), Mallory (Sam), Lee (Mel), Randi (Ben), and Matt; eighteen great grandchildren, Cohen, Hanna, Sam, Kate, Sadie, Annalee, Ainsley, Austin, Gavin, Natalie, Rachel, Oliver, Cooper, Kennedy (Dom), Lexus, Boe, Jacob, and Brayden; her siblings Elly, Bill (Robina), Wendy, and Frieda (Bert). A Celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, January 21st at 1:00pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Barrhead. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements under the direction of Rose Garden Chapel, Barrhead AB.
