

Wilfred Cyril Borle passed away on December 2nd, 2025 in Stony Plain, Alberta at the age of 96 years. He was born on June 4th, 1929 having been given the birth name August. One of many with the name August in the extended family, he early on changed his name to Wilfred. He was born to Maurits Cyriel Borle and Catherine Mary Clara Borle (nee Granger). He was the second of eight children. He married Edith Mary Geis from Barrhead on July 15th, 1955 at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church in Edmonton. The wedding was a double wedding with his sister also marrying in the ceremony.
Wilfred grew up working on the family farm. As a young man he worked in the winter alongside his father at lumber mills near Majeau Lake, Mayerthorpe and Niton. And then at a planer mill east of Barrhead. Other employment included Egg Lake Coal Mine, Swifts, and Nelson Lumber.
After marrying he moved to Edmonton with his bride where he worked for the City of Edmonton, Department of Light and Power. After 10 years in the city they moved to a farm located south of Lac La Nonne adjacent his cousin’s. Wilfred raised purebred registered Hereford cattle for many years. And he had a team of work horses. He and his family attended Our Lady of Lourdes Parish at Lac La Nonne.
Upon retirement from the farm Wilfred and Edith moved to Stony Plain, a town that he liked very much. During retirement he kept farm land at Majeau Lake. Wilfred and Edith moved to Sherwood Park briefly before returning to Stony Plain.
Wilfred and Edith always enjoyed Country Square Dancing in which they participated regularly with friends. This was a highlight in their lives until the later years.
Wilfred was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Catalina, Virginia, Julia, and Rose, and his brother Fird.
Wilfred is survived by his loving wife Edith of 70 years, his six children, Alvin (Sandy), Randolph (Shelley), Lawrence, Jeanette, Doreen and Eldon, twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his brother Delphis, his sister Sandra, his aunt Audrey, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church on December 12, 2025, starting at 11:00 am.
