

He leaves behind to mourn his loss: his wife of 70 years, Hilda (nee Peters) and 7 children: Harold (Jane) Holwerda, Vivian Hoeksema, Carolyn (Louis) Haan, Valerie (John) VanderDeen, Brian (Louise) Holwerda, Colin (Heather) Holwerda, and Randal (Nikki) Holwerda.

2 sisters: Sharon (Art) Dykstra, and Marion (Joe) Aerssens
Wilfred was predeceased by his father, Jelle Holwerda, and mother, Catherine Wierenga, 1 infant great grand daughter, Sophia, and numerous children that God took to Himself before birth.
Through out Wilfred’s life, he was very involved in the agricultural community. He was well known in the agricultural sector and held a wide variety of jobs; a few being a farmer, milkman, trucker and a salesman.
Music was a very important part of Wilfred’s life. Wilfred and Hilda spent many a Friday night at the Opry. They also loved volunteering at the seniors home providing entertainment.
Wilfred served in his church in various ways. He was an elder, usher and an Awana leader.
The family would like to express their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the many healthcare providers in Barrhead and Mayerthorpe for their care of dad in the last few years of his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wilfred’s name to Camp Nakamun. Cheques can be made out to Camp Nakamun and mailed out to RR 1 Busby, AB T0G 0H0, or etransfer to [email protected]. Please write in the notes that it’s a donation in the memory of Wilfred Holwerda.
Service to be held at the Barrhead Alliance Church on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
There will be a private graveside burial prior to the service.
