Alice Bolyard Poling, 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2025. She was born on September 23, 1929, in Grafton, West Virginia, where she grew up as a devoted daughter and became beloved by all who knew her in her hometown.
In 1947, at the age of 18, Alice met and married the love of her life, Donald “Don” F. Poling. Together, they embarked on a life filled with adventure, raising three children, and living across the southern United States during Don’s career as a United States Postal Inspector.
Alice’s deep faith guided her throughout her life. She was an active and dedicated member of Collierville United Methodist Church for nearly 30 years, where she found fellowship, purpose, and lifelong friendships. A woman of extraordinary creativity, Alice was an accomplished self-taught painter.
Known for her hospitality, Alice was also an exceptional baker and cook. Anyone who entered her home was greeted first with warmth and then with a home-cooked meal and one of her delicious homemade desserts. Her generosity and kindness touched everyone she met.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her faithful husband, Donald Poling, and two of her children, Donna King and David Poling. She is survived by her eldest son, Gary Poling, and five grandchildren: Alicia Andrews, Heather Valdez, Jeffrey Poling, Danielle Nielsen, and Ryan Poling.
Alice’s legacy of love, creativity, faith, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
