Barton Phillip Rogers, Jr. "Bud", 92, of Cordova, TN, passed away on June 9, 2024, in Memphis, TN. He was born on August 3, 1931, in Memphis, TN, to the late Barton Phillip Rogers, Sr. and Ruby Valentine Rogers.
Barton, known as "Bud" to his loved ones, was a dedicated family man, farmer, and a valued member of the Bridgewater Community. He had a warm and welcoming personality, never meeting a stranger, and was cherished by all who knew him. Barton found joy in farming, especially being on his tractor, always wearing a huge smile.
In 1953, Barton proudly served in the Army from 1953 to 1955.
His career was marked by 27 years as a School Bus Driver and as a Dairy Farmer who transitioned to raising Black Angus cattle, cotton, and soybeans.
Barton was a graduate of Nicholas Blackwell High School and attended the University of Memphis, with a focus in welding.
He worshipped at Mullins Station Baptist Church and found solace in his faith.
Barton's hobbies included hunting, farming, baseball, playing dominoes, and cornhole.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Shirley Rogers, his children Cathie Thompson (Bob), Phillip Rogers, Phyllis Riecke (Tim), Brenda Metts (Troy), six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Barton was preceded in death by his son, Barton Phillip Rogers, III.
A visitation for Barton will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 6:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 14, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee. A committal service will occur Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, Tennessee.
Serving as pallbearers are PJ Davis, Zach Metts, Robert Orr, Ric Kimbrell, JC Thompson and Bob Thompson.
