Ben Walter Mason

Ben Walter Mason, 69, of Bartlett, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Methodist Hospital, North, of Heart Failure. He was the retired Director of Engineering at Conwood. Ben, the husband of Sherrie L. Mason also leaves a daughter,Kim Mason Love, her husband, Brian and their sons, Tristan and Sam; a son, Ben and his wife Tracie, all of Bartlett; a brother, Dennis R. Mason, his wife Suzanne and their son Rob of Fayetteville, NC; brother in law, James R. Youngblood; nephew, James D. Youngblood and his wife Ashlee of Cordova; and niece, Dr. Jenny Youngblood, DVM and her husband, Jason of Agoura, CA. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis R. Mason in 1992 and his beloved mother recently on April 13, 2014, Anita Mason Stern; brother, Bobby Mason and his loved dogs, Casey, Cody and Oscar. Ben also leaves his best “Babies”, Kirby, Sully and Spike. Mr. Mason joined the US Air Force when he graduated from high school. Once he was discharged, he attended Mississippi State University for two years, moved to Memphis and worked his way up to Director of Engineering at Sherring-Plough and finished his engineering career at Conwood until his retirement. He loved spending weekends at his lake home at Lake Traderhorn in McCarley, MS (his family home place). A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 16 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens with visitation beginning at 12 noon. Private family interment will be at a later date.
