Betty June (Fleming) Carlson, widow of Donald B. Carlson, of Bartlett TN, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family, on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the age of 90. Betty was born May 1, 1933 in Memphis, TN to William Arthur and Frances Fleming.
She is survived by her six children Cindy Hubbard (David) of Oakland, TN; Vickie Farley (Joe) of Greenwood, IN; Robin Bowman (Scott) of Noblesville, IN; Cathy Donahoe (Cameron) of Bartlett, TN; David Carlson (Tammy) of Lakeland, TN and Donna Ellenburg of Vista, CA. She also leaves 25 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren.
Betty is also survived by her brother, Arthur Fleming (Verna), and sisters, JoAnn King and Jane Haley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert Fleming, and a granddaughter, Leslie Hubbard.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Memphis and graduated from Treadwell High School. In 1954 she married Donald Carlson and together they raised their six children. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many capacities. Later in life she and Donald served as missionaries for the church in San Jose, CA and as temple workers in Atlanta, St. Louis and Memphis. She was also a volunteer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for several years.
She will be best remembered as a woman who loved her family and exemplified faith in Jesus Christ through selfless service to her family and others, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4195 Kirby Whitten Rd, Bartlett, TN . There will also be a visitation prior to the funeral from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
