Billy J. McCarley

Billy J. McCarley, of Bartlett, Tennessee passed away on Saturday January 4, 2020. Mr. McCarley retired from the U. S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. After his retirement from the Navy, he went to work for the Memphis Police Department, which he retired from in 1996. Billy enjoyed racing three wheelers and working with small engines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Clifton and Gladys McCarley, a daughter, Deborah A,. Colvett, two granddaughters; Dana C. Smith and Stacey L. Colvett, two brothers; Delphan "Shorty" McCarley and LaVoid McCarley. BIlly is survived by his wife Mary Helen McCarley, Claude F. McCarley, Bruce W. McCarley, Beverly McCarley Berryman, his step-children; Rita Matocha, Anna L. Cates, Johnnie Johnson, Tolbert F. Cates III, one sister, Jean Good, ten grandchildren; Megan, Lanie, John, Becky, Jake, Katie, Jessie, Amber, Travis, T.C., and three great grandchildren; Jake, Rege, and Elizabeth.

The family will receive friends from 11am, with a service to follow at noon, on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, interment will follow at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
