My husband and I were her neighbors of 30 plus years. She was and will always be considered our second mom. As I left for work this morning I looked as I usually do at those signature curtains lol which of course are closed. This was always our clue she was ok if they were open. I can't count the times Steve would say "have you talked to Ms. Palmer today? Her curtains aren't open". I think it really hit, those curtains won't be open again. I will remember the many times she would call when she would see my van in the drive when it was a work day. (Nine times out of 10 it was a bank holiday). It got to where I would try to beat her calling me. She was checking to make sure I was ok and not sick. I will never go out of town or return without thinking of Ms. Palmer.  We would let her know when we were going, where and when we would get back. If it got close to dark, I better well call her first because she WOULD call me because she would get concerned. All of this and MORE was Ms. Palmer. She looked after us and we her. It was truly an honor to know her and to do for her what we could. I will miss getting her mail for her and Steve always took her garbage to the curb and back. I will miss stopping by Aldi's to pick up a few things she needed. When we saw her a week ago Sunday I had spoken to her about a lift chair and being the very independent woman she was, she told me her doctor said she has to get her exercise and that was that lol...A more Godly woman I've never known. She loved her family, she loved her church and she LOVED her home. There is no greater honor than to know and be the small part of her life we were. I truly miss her with all my heart. And now she has no need for a lift chair lol..We love you Ms. Palmer. I think everyone else called her Brooxie, she was always Ms. Palmer to us.


I have so many memories of  Aunt Brooxie from when I was a child.  She was such a loving person. I remember going to my grandmother's(Frances Palmer) house and we would always go to see Aunt Brooxie and Aunt Laverne. They would always cook something special for us. She was such an awesome cook. She was always happy to see us. I also remember her many games with my grandmother and Aunt Clarice. I am very fortunate that my Aunt Gail kept me up to date on her and her family. Although I didn't get to see Aunt Brooxie in her later years I always kept her in my thoughts and prayers. My sincerest condolences for your loss.

I had the distinguish pleasure of working with Brooxie at the UT Agricultural Extension Service. She was a God loving wonderful, kind sweet person. 
She will truly be missed. My prayers and condolences. 

I met Mrs.Palmer when i was 5yrs old,I'm now 31. She has been my mom's neighbor (Kim Thomas) for the last 21 years and she's always been the sweetest beam of light. She'd look out for me a lot,especially when i started driving,just to make sure I'd make it home from wherever I went that day. I went off to college and she told me how she missed seeing my car pull up but she knew i was at school. She was the epitome of a true neighbor! Loving,caring,thoughtful and extremely sweet. Mrs.Palmer,your memory will never fade from us here on Kipling Ave. Thank you for looking out for us when we didn't even know to look out for ourselves. Love you dearly,the Thomas'.

I did not see Aunt Broxie much throughout my life, but she was an ABSOLUTE SWEETHEART. I’d call her once in a while and she’d love to visit! She’d literally ask about everyone in the family. Our conversations were three hours long. She absolutely was IMPERFECT BUT UNSELFISH IN EVERY WAY! She literally put everyone else before herself! Jesus lived INSIDE HER COMPLETELY. One special memory I would like to share is this. I miss the days when Aunt Frances Palmer would come home and her and Aunt Clarice and Aunt Frances would get together and play games. Broxie would laugh at Aunt Frances’ silly childish arguments during games. She loved me so much as a child and I always looked forward to seeing her. She will truly be missed by all! My love and prayers go to the family.

Of course, I am not saying anything new to you when I say Brooxie was so special!  As a young agent, I traveled to Memphis frequently to do team work.  Brooxie immediately “adopted “ me and loved and supported me my whole career.  I felt good when other friends went to Memphis to work because I knew Brooxie would care for them, too.

What a delightful soul she is.  How blessed I am to have known her.

She was very close to her brother in law Rick Palmer (Judy) and her niece Patricia Busby (Mickey) and was also survived by many extended family members. 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, James C. Palmer, her brother Odus Johnson; her sister, Eloise Churchwell and her parents, Harvey and Ethel Johnson.
