
Carl Raymond BoganMemphis, TNwas born February 23, 1937 in Memphis, TN passed away on Wednesday, October 21, after a 2 year battle with cancer. Carl lived in Higden, AR on Greer's Ferry Lake, where he retired after living and raising his family in Memphis, TN. He leaves behind his sister, Judy Bogan; his four children, Mark Bogan, Kimberley Bogan Gessner, Michael Bogan and Kelley Bogan; their spouses, Lynda Bogan, Richard Gessner and Rebecca Bogan; his seven grandchildren, Sarah Bogan Taillie, Matthew Bogan, Caleb Bogan, Emily Glasgow, Elizabeth Glasgow, Geoffrey Bogan and Jensen Bogan; and two great-grandchildren Shiloh Bogan and Caroline Taillie. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. Bogan and Alma Bogan, and his grandchild, Ian Glasgow. He attended Georgia Tech and graduated from Memphis State University, spending his career in Management Information during the early days of computer applications in business. Carl retired from Dover Elevator, where he served as Director of MIS. He served on the board with State Technical Institute at Memphis, Theatre Memphis and on Governor Dunn's Task Force for Work Force Development. He was never prouder than when he was able to watch his children compete, in sports or spelling bees, and spent his happiest years developing and coaching youth soccer in its early days as an organized sport in Tennessee. He loved tennis, camping, sailing and travel, and delighted in bringing his family together for active reunions in the outdoors. The family will receive friends from at 9:00 until time of the memorial service at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 24, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN with a reception immediately following at Mark and Lynda Bogan's home at 8895 Memphis-Arlington Road, Arlington, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Out of the Woods Animal Rescue in Little Rock, AR, ootwrescue.org or the charity of your choice.
