It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carl Edmond Whorton Jr., age 57, of Memphis, TN, who left this world on April 29, 2025. Born in Houston, TX, Carl was a loving father, devoted grandfather, and cherished family member whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Carl is survived by his two beloved sons, Carl Andrew Whorton (Sarah) and Tyler Wade Whorton (Marianne). He was a proud grandfather to seven wonderful grandchildren: Raven, Aleah, Grace, Tyler, Jameson, Salem, and Evie Whorton, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his loving mother, Janet “Linda” Sparks, and his siblings, Jennifer, Johnny, and Chris Whorton. Additionally, he leaves behind his stepmother, Pamela Lamonte, stepsister Shawntel Guillot, and his dear niece and nephew, Nick and Zoe, along with their mother, Patricia.
Carl was preceded in death by his father, Carl E. Whorton Sr., as well as his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Marilyn Bond, and paternal grandparents, Johnny and Patricia Whorton. Their memories will forever live on in the hearts of his family.
For over three decades, Carl dedicated himself to his work as a granite customizer, where his craftsmanship and attention to detail shone brightly. Outside of work, he found joy in playing in a frisbee golf league, showcasing his competitive spirit and love for the outdoors. An avid enthusiast of classic cars and NASCAR, Carl's passion for rock music, especially KISS, provided a soundtrack to many cherished moments.
Above all, Carl took great pride in being a grandfather. He loved sharing stories and pictures of his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. His laughter, kindness, and unwavering love will be remembered fondly by family and friends.
As we celebrate Carl's life, let us hold close the memories we shared and honor the impact he had on each of us. He will forever remain in our hearts.

Visitation will be held from 9-10 am, with the service to follow at 10.
