Carol Diane Crunk passed away unexpectedly on the morning of August 18, 2024 in Memphis, TN.
Carol was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 27, 1948 to the late Reverend Larry and Alma George and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on August 18, 2024 in Memphis, TN. She graduated from Southport High School in Indianapolis, IN and went on to earn her RN from Methodist Hospital in downtown Indianapolis. She married the love of her life, Dr. Stan Crunk, in 1967 and they eventually moved to Memphis, TN. She loved her job as a nurse working with newborn babies at Baptist Hospital downtown and then Baptist East. She eventually left nursing and managed her husband’s dental practice in Bartlett for 30+years.
Carol was a faithful member of Bartlett Hills Baptist Church, formerly known as Raleigh Baptist Church. She was passionate about serving on dental/medical mission trips to Nicaragua and Mexico, and also Bellevue’s Mission of Mercy. She loved spending time with her family, watching the sunset on the lake and cheering for her Memphis Tigers basketball. She doted on her rescue dogs, Bentley and Brady. She had a keen eye for decorating, gardening, and loved fixing up her beautiful home.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Dr. Stan Crunk of Lakeland, TN, son and daughter in law, Jim and Charlie Crunk of Lakeland, TN, daughter and son in law Janna and Danny Hughes of Bartlett, TN and daughter, Julie Scroggins of Bartlett, TN. She will also be greatly missed by her 8 grandchildren: Kelsey Crunk Croegaert (Drew) of Oakland, TN, JD Crunk and Kara Crunk of Lakeland, TN, Ray Hughes (Amanda) of Dallas, TX, Ryan Hughes, Aidan, Emma and Kennedy Burgess of Bartlett, TN, her great-grandson, Wells Croegaert, two brothers Tom George of Indianapolis, IN, and Paul George (Laurel) of Rock Hill, SC, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved.
The family will receive visitors August 23rd from 4:30-7:00 at Bartlett Hills Baptist Church followed by a celebration of her life at 7:00. A private committal service will be held at West TN State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials can be made in Carol’s honor to the West Cancer Foundation or the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County.
