Carolyn Sue Burnett, born Carolyn Sue Christopher on January 24, 1944, in Cleveland, Mississippi, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She was the first of five children born to Parham and Hettie Christopher.
Carolyn married Tommy E. Carr (deceased in 2012), and together they had two sons, Shane Carr and Todd Carr. She later married Griffin Burnett in 2017, with whom she shared many joyful years of love, travel, and companionship.
She is survived by her son Shane Carr and his wife, Tammy, and her son Todd Carr and his wife, Tiffany. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Lauren Blankenship (married to Ryan Blankenship) and Colton Carr. Colton is the proud father of Carolyn’s great-grandson, Cohen, age four, who brought her immense joy. Carolyn and Griff especially treasured the time they spent with Cohen.
Carolyn is also survived by her beloved siblings: John Christopher and his wife, Paula, of California; Ann Shelton and her husband, Kenny Shelton, of Cordova, Tennessee; Nancy LeDuke and her husband, Buster LeDuke, of Como, Mississippi; and Janet Cook and her husband, Carlton Cook, of Memphis, Tennessee.
Carolyn was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church. Her strong faith in God was the foundation of her life. She attended Bible study weekly and made it her mission to live with kindness, always striving to speak well of others and reflect her faith in her daily life. Following is one of her favorite Bible verses:
I am young and now am old,
Yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread,
They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.
Psalms 37:25, 26
She was known for her joyful spirit and active lifestyle. Carolyn enjoyed spending time at the Cordova YMCA, traveling with Griff, shopping, and going out to lunch with her friends. She embraced life fully and brought warmth and light to those around her.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is rejoicing in heaven, reunited with her parents and loved ones who have gone before her.
