Charles "C.D." Hampton

Charles "C.D." Hampton, 86, of Bartlett, Tennessee, passed away April 6, 2017. C.D. was born April 6, 1931 to the late John and Vasti Hampton in Shelby County. After graduating from Bolton High School in 1950, he joined the Air Force. Following his service, he worked in the food industry, ultimately retiring from Hardin-Sysco in 1996. He was a member of Ellendale Baptist Church. C.D. enjoyed gardening, woodworking, being with his loving family, and playing ball with his faithful dog, Sam. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Clyde Earnest Hampton, Lillian "Lil" Paschall, and Laverne Bradford, and wife, Mona Hampton. C.D. is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Evelyn Hampton; his children, Janie Stafford (Steve), Woody Hampton (Mary), Jimmy Flaherty (Debby), Marcia Barnes (Neal), Pam Kirby (Glynn), and Michael Flaherty (Kim); his grandchildren, Bridgett Stafford, Dalton Stafford, Elizabeth Mask (Justin), Casey Hampton (Kristina), Russell Rogers, Drew Flaherty, Matt Flaherty, Vivien Kirby, Chance Kirby, Jack Flaherty, and Alex Flaherty; two great-grandchildren, Payton and Ella Mask; his siblings, Leo Hampton (Betty), Leon Hampton, David Hampton (Shelby), Evelyn Marbry (David), Evie Malone, Loyce Stelling (Tommy), Joyce Dempsey (Raymond), and Linda Keel (Harold); and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 9 from three until six o'clock at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held at Ellendale Baptist Church, 3861 Broadway Road, Bartlett, Tennessee on Monday, April 10 at eleven o'clock with interment to follow at Memorial Gardens.
