Charles Wayne Sims was called home Oct. 30, 2019. Charles was born in McNairy County, TN Feb. 17, 1938. He was predeceased by his parents Nolan and Lucy Mae Sims and his son, Douglas Wayne. He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years Mary Sue, who took great care of him. He also leaves his daughter Debbie (Rich) Jones, son Mike and 8 grandchildren along with his extended family of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, niece and four nephews. The family is very grateful for the sweet care given to him by Carebridge at Brookdale and Compassus Hospice.
Charlie was born during the Great Depression and took great pride in his work and making use of anything available to him, there was not much he could not fix. He worked for Sears Logistics and "semi" retired after 44 years of service. He continued to work after retirement and enjoyed working at MS Carriers and later making auto deliveries across West Tennessee for Auto Nation, Bill Heard and Chuck Hutton. Those who knew him well will miss his friendly smile, sharp wit and sense of humor.
His family has taken great solace knowing that he is healed, mind and body and is home with his Lord and Savior. As we say goodbye - or see you later - we smile knowing what his response would be: "Not if I see you first."
A visitation for Charles will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. A reception will be Friday, November 1, 2019 from 3:45 PM to 5:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133 after the burial.
Memorial donations in memory Charles Sims may be offered to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Cancer Card Exchange.
