Chrystal McMasters Leslie

Mrs. Chrystal T. Leslie, the matriarch of our family, went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 13, 2016. She had a long and productive life of 93 years .Chrystal was born in Burnsville, MS where she picked cotton on the farm and played basketball. She was a little farm girl that came to Memphis and worked at Sears Crosstown. Her love and faith in God led her to serve others through missionary work, singing in the church choir (Franklin Bapt.), women’s Sunday School teacher at Ardmore Baptist, and food service ministry at Bellevue Baptist Church. Chrystal was preceded in death by her parents William L. & Ella Boothe McMasters; six sisters ; Oma Howell, Grace McKinney, Flora Woodruff, Christine McMasters, Laurena Floyd, & Willie Ella Phillips; two brothers ; William & Howard McMasters; two husbands ; Sandy Underwood & Charles W. Leslie; and one grandson; Derek Underwood She will be eternally missed by her friends and the following surviving family members: two sons; Jerry & Richard Underwood; a daughter, Sheila Rapp & son-in-law Gary; five grandsons; Jeff & Keith Underwood, and Gary, Brady & Jacob Rapp; five great grandchildren; Hannah & Mason Underwood; Dalton Goddard, and Bella & William Rapp; and one sister; Mattie Smith. The family will receive friends from on Thursday, July 14, 2016, from 5-8pm at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown, TN 38133. Come celebrate Chrystal’s life with her family at 1:00pm, on Friday, July 15, at Bellevue Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be made to Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary.
